In an effort to reduce costs for our volunteers as much as possible, SHH allows volunteers to book their own flights to Honduras instead of booking flights as a group. This complicates logistics for us, but saves YOU money (as much as $300).
To assist in this effort, we require you to arrive in San Pedro Sula (airport code SAP) preferably before 5pm on the first day of your trip.
- After you arrive, you will go through immigration and customs. This process is sometimes lengthy. Don't worry, SHH Staff will be waiting for you! Please keep in mind that there are often other volunteers arriving on flights with a time close to yours, so please be patient as you may need to wait at the airport for others, at times for as long as an hour.
- If arriving the day before the trip is cheaper, we encourage you to choose this flight time. However, you will incur a $20 taxi surcharge. Our staff will send a trusted taxi driver to pick you up when you arrive. Do not, under any circumstances, get in a taxi that has not been pre-arranged by SHH.
