What's not Included
There is a $35 fee to exit Honduras, which is collected at the airport upon your departure. This can be paid using US dollars or Honduran Lempiras.
SHH participants have brought extra spending money to Honduras to buy souvenirs and non SHH-purchased snacks during the week. ATMs are available in the city and the most convenient form of getting money on the trip, but participants are also encouraged to bring extra spending money in small denominations of US dollars. In the past, participants have brought anywhere between $30 and $200.
Travel Visas
Upon arrival in Honduras, the immigration officers at the airport will issue a 90 day visa. It is a stamped yellow or green slip that they give you (or staple in your passport) before the baggage claim. Do not lose this document or they will charge $100 upon your departure!
Airfare
Airfare to Honduras tends to be cheapest during the summer ($250-$500 roundtrip) and most expensive during the winter ($350-$900). Each participant is responsible for purchasing their own plane ticket.
