Taylor and I spent our week in New York and New Jersey. We visited NYU and CUNY-Hunter College during our visit to Manhattan. Kelly Ryan, an SHH alumni from UMW, showed us around the city and let us stay in her apartment in Brooklyn. We held a brief presentation at NYU and talked to undergraduate and graduate students there about SHH. I loved my time there in NY with Kelly but was reminded how hard it is to find parking in the city

Afterwards, we visited Rutgers in New Jersey. The entire campus was preparing for a Dance Marathon to benefit children with cancer. Our short visit to NJ ended after our visit to Princeton, where Justin Simeone (former UMW chapter president) showed us around. They seem to work him hard there for the PhD program. I don’t think the man slept at all while we stayed over.

We re-visited Philadelphia to talk with more students from Temple and Drexel at the end of the week. Over the weekend, we drove down south and did a presentation at Central Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia with Callie, an awesome new member at the UVA chapter. She is only a freshmen there but has made a tremendous impact for the chapter. Not only that, she has promised to teach Taylor and I how to dance salsa and bachata. It was great to catch up with her at Aunt Sarah’s over some eggs and coffee. Afterwards, we met Glenna and Molly (both UMW SHH alumni) over coffee and Nhung from the VCU chapter.

Today, we visited University of Richmond and Roanoke College. We are spending the night at Katerine’s place at Virginia Tech. Taylor is exhausted from all of the driving, but he got some energy after eating pho at Nhung’s Vietnamese restaurant that her family owns. If you like Pho, check out Pho So 1 in Richmond. It’s a must.

This week we are everywhere in North Carolina.
