¡Que macizo! Volunteering in Honduras is an experience like none other. Join us to make a tangible contribution to the lives of many. Expect to learn about Honduras, the Spanish language, and something about yourself through this life-changing trip.
Life in Honduras is different, but not totally foreign. We’d just like to remind you that it is a third world country. Crime and infectious diseases are things you must be conscious of though not nervous with.
The specific projects that you will be involved with will be described more below, and they can even change taking into consideration the preferences of the people traveling and specific needs of the Honduran communities.
The city we will be traveling to is called El Progreso, in the province of Yoro. It is twenty minutes away from the airport in San Pedro Sula and less than an hour away from the Garifuna beaches of Tela.
While in El Progreso, a main focus will be the community of Villa Soleada, as we aid them with various projects. You will be involved in a construction project at this site. Volunteers also spend time with the children and local families in many ways.
Team building is an equally important component of our trips. During the day, you will be working side-by-side with fellow volunteers. In the evenings, we will have time to meet and reflect on the day’s events as a group.
There is much to do and very little time to do it in. Sometimes things will seemed rushed, but the excitement of this experience allows us all to push ourselves beyond what we thought was possible. We hope this packet prepares you for the adventure of a lifetime.
