Activities
The 2010 internship will begin by spending several days with members of the Villa Soleada community at a seminar on sustainable agriculture. Together, the interns and community members will work to implement three projects based on the techniques and sample projects that they have seen. For the interns who have come from more privileged backgrounds, this is a chance for them to put their education, whether from high school or from a course off elearners, to good use and help others with their knowledge. At the end of the fellowship, the fellows will have to put together a presentation on how their projects should best be continued in their absence, even getting the chance to delegate additional funds for one of the projects for future expenses. What You Will Gain
This fellowship is meant to give students hands on experience and education about 3rd world development for the urban and rural poor. Students will gain and understanding of the past and future struggles and complications of 3rd world development, especially in Central America. Learn about the historic struggle for land that has shaped the past century of development and possibly the next century as well. Come get you hands dirty, as you learn along side a community what it takes to develop sustainable agriculture projects. By the end of your fellowship, you will truly leave behind the fruits of you labor for the villagers to enjoy and hopefully to sustain their way of life.
